Clara Crocodile. A peek behind the story.

Writing Clara. My Process

Once the story of Clara Crocodile was planted in my brain I couldn’t ignore it. I grabbed a book and started jotting down ideas, names, locations, anything that I thought might be useful. The notebook became my go to place and held everything Clara related. I started realising I needed to make a budget, I needed a rough timeline, I wrote a wish-list of artists I wanted to work with, I wrote down different animals that Clara might meet. I printed a map of the NT and studied it, I did doodles of crocodiles, and if I didn’t have the book on me I wrote my ideas on scrap paper and stuck them in later.

Having a book dedicated to Clara helped me focus on the story and the vision. It was a safe space where I wrote anything and everything down in. I was able to nut out each character, finalise the plot and album tracks.

The book is now falling apart and filled to the brim. Looking at it now it probably wouldn’t make much sense to anyone other than me. It looks like the ramblings of a crazy lady. I am now halfway through my second notebook and it is looking just as chaotic…
